USTA & USTA FLORIDA GRANTS, STIPENDS AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

USTA FLORIDA COMMUNITY TENNIS GRANT APPLICATIONS

PURPOSE:
USTA Florida is committed to promoting tennis at the local level. To that end, USTA Florida offers grants to help organizations initiate or expand their tennis activities.  Grants may be used to start instructional programs or leagues for players of all ages, abilities, & populations. USTA Florida's long-term goal is to help programs become self sufficient; therefore, grants are non-renewable.  Grants are based on need and availability. Please be creative & complete in your requests and contact USTA Florida if you have any questions.  Grants submitted to USTA Florida are sent through the Grant Committee for their review. 

PLEASE SEE INDIVIDUAL GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR SPECIFIC GUIDELINES & REQUIREMENTS.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY TO THE APPROPRIATE STAFF PERSON LISTED BELOW.

TYPES OF USTA FLORIDA COMMUNITY GRANTS AVAILABLE:
Diversity Community Outreach Grant
:  The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to organizations that integrate existing programs and develop new program initiatives that will substantially increase multicultural participation in USTA Florida.  Contact Shelly Licorish at:
licorish@florida.usta.com  or download, complete and email the USTA Florida Diversity Community Outreach Grant Application.

Jr. Team Tennis : Funds available for a CTA or community to form and begin a USTA Jr. Team Tennis program in their community. For ages 6-18 and all skill levels. Contact Michelle Willis at: willis@florida.usta.com or download, complete and email the USTA Jr. Team Tennis Grant Application.

Tennis on Campus :  Funds available for starting a College Campus program at a public or private school.  Contact Michelle Willis at: willis@florida.usta.com for additional information.

Tennis in the Parks :  Funds available for registered public park agencies for tennis programming or equipment.  Contact Linda Curtis at curtisL@florida.usta.com or download, complete and email the USTA Florida Tennis in the Parks Application.

Community Tennis Associations (CTAs) :   Funds available for starting and expanding  local Community Tennis Associations (CTA). Contact Linda Curtis at: curtisL@florida.usta.com   or download, complete and email the USTA Florida CTA Grant Application.

Adaptive and Wheelchair Tennis :  Funds available for starting or expanding wheelchair and/or adaptive tennis programs, camps or events.  Contact Linda Curtis at: curtisL@florida.usta.com  or download, complete and email the USTA Florida Adaptive & Wheelchair Grant Application.

USTA Receational Tennis Program Grants
:

Multicultural Grants
:   Funding for new or expanding community tennis programs for multicultural players.
2010 MP Grant Information!

USTA Public Facility Funding Grant:    The USTA in partnering with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) have collaborated on a three-category grant opportunity for public facilities in need of enhancement, reconstruction or construction of a new public tennis facility.

USTA NJTL Invitational Camp Scholarship :   Funding for 12-14 year old intermediate level NJTL players who exemplify strong values and personal character and who require financial assistance to attend a week-long instructional camp.

Arthur Ashe Essay Contest Scholarship
:   Participants submit essays related to Arthur Ashe in an effort to win a paid trip to NYC for Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day.  Contest takes place during summer.

The USTA Tennis & Education Foundation (USTA T&EF) :  

(CLOSED FOR 2009 – APPLICATION PROCESS WILL RE-OPEN AT THE END OF 2009/BEGINNING OF 2010)

Is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life among our nation’s youth.  The mission of the USTA T&EF states that it encourages children to pursue their goals and highest dreams by succeeding in school and becoming responsible citizens.  The USTA T&EF supports organizations that use tennis as a vehicle to help youngsters finish high school and qualify for college scholarships.  The USTA T&EF targets youngsters from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need for college matriculation.

Applicants for the College Scholarship Program must be high school seniors enrolling as a full-time undergraduate student as defined by his/her undergraduate institution no later than the fall semester following high school graduation. There are six (6) different scholarship opportunities that are outlined in the documents attached. Scholarships range in awards from $500 up to $15,000.

Applicants for the Player Incentive Awards must be enrolled in grades 6-11, show a strong commitment to academic achievement, be a participant in a USTA youth tennis program and show financial need for all tennis related fees or activities.  These awards are a one-time, non-renewable grant of $500.  The purpose of the Player Incentive Awards is to encourage the development of USTA youth tennis program participants with great potential and a commitment to academic excellence.
